With the price of gas and oil on the rise, take advantage of burning wood as more cost effective and sustainable way of heating your home......

........not to mention that wood burners look fantastic too.

Chimney Sweeping

Chimney sweeping is an essential part of running a stove/fire. Your chimney should be swept 1-4 times a year depending upon fuel and usage. Regular sweeping of your chimney will keep your stove/fire working well and keep your home and family safe.

The modern day chimney sweep makes it a very quick and clean operation.

If you've just moved house ask the previous owner to provide a sweep cerificate to prove when the flue was last swept. If there is any doubt at all over when the flue was last swept, get a sweep in. A blocked flue can cause serious harm....even death.

Cowl, cages, pots & flaunching

Most people never take any notice of their stack but here's quite a lot of problems you can spot from the safety of the ground. Before booking your sweep take a look at your stack to see if there are any of the following:

  Leaning chimney pots

  Loose mortar/flaunching or loose bricks

  Loose/leaning TV aeriels

  Loose or damaged lead flashing

  Damaged, loose or missing cowl

If you can spot any of the above, let us know before we visit to carryout the sweep. It will save you money as we can repair the above faults whilst at your house thus saving on travelling time and expenses.

A cowl is a good idea if you have issues with rain water ingress or are prone to the odd bird flying down the chimney. We usually keep some cowls on the van so just ask if you'd like one installing. Once again it's much cheaper to have one installed at the time of sweeping rather than making a special trip.
