Chimney Sweeping
Chimney sweeping is an essential part of running a stove/fire. Your chimney should be swept several times a year depending upon fuel and usage. Regular sweeping of your chimney will keep your stove/fire working well and keep your home and family safe.
The modern day chimney sweep makes it a very quick and clean operation.
If you've just moved into a property, ask the previous owner to provide a sweep cerificate or invoice to prove when the flue was last swept. If there is any doubt at all over when the flue was last swept, get a sweep in. A blocked flue can cause serious harm.
A sweep costs £30 + VAT from the 1st April - 31st July. Any other time it's £35 + VAT.
Servicing
We can also service your stove or cooking range to keep it in good condition, looking good and functioning at it's best. A service includes:
Sweeping of flue, checking of rope seals and replacement if necessary, clean glass, clean inside of stove, blacken flue pipe and stove lid if necessary. Check all other internal components and advise on cost to repair/replace.

Cooking Ranges
Wood fired and solid fuel cookers have many small flueways within their body which circulate hot exhaust gases around the hot plates and the outside of the ovens. These become clogged with ash and soot and require special attention to keep the cooker performing at it's best. The connecting chimney of a wood fired cooking range requires more frequent cleaning than a standard wood burning stove. This is due to the lower temperature flue gases produced by a cooker which causes the chimney to clog faster. We recommend having the chimney swept twice a year and the cooker serviced once a year.

Repairs
As your stove gets older it may need some new parts from time to time. Items such as glass, fire bricks, rope seals, baffle plates, log guards, fire grates........etc are all avialable to keep your stove in excellent condition. If we already sweep your appliance regularly then we'll keep an eye on it and point out anything that may require attention. Otherwise if you feel your stove is not performing as it was or something requires repairing then give us a call. We'll come and have a look and give you a price. If it's rope seals or firebricks and a general tidy up it's likely we'll have the parts on the van to sort it there and then.
